GTA San Andreas Is Now Playable In VR With The New UEVR Mod

More and more games will become playable in VR thanks to the UEVR mod.

Story Highlights

  • Playing GTA San Andreas in VR is no longer a dream, as it is now possible using the new UEVR mod.
  • It makes almost all Unreal Engine 4 and 5 titles possible to run in VR. Many other AAA games already work.
  • The UEVR mod has recently been released by Praydog in a public beta, allowing gamers to test various titles.

GTA San Andreas is one of the most popular video games to exist, and now it can be enjoyed wholly anew. The open world is now playable in VR by using the UEVR mod by Praydog. Besides supporting the title, the mod features a vast portfolio of other games. The YouTube video by Gamertag VR showcases the GTA San Andreas virtual reality gameplay in all its glory. It starts with CJ stealing a vehicle to visit Grove Street for the first time.

The title runs completely fine and plays well in VR, especially while driving around in the vehicle. The player is able to interact with the surroundings like in any other VR game. However, setting up the camera can be a bit of a hindrance, which the YouTuber clarifies and shows fixes at the end of the 9-minute video. Also, CJ is completely missing his head at random times, if that is something to be concerned about.

Video Games Deluxe is also attempting to bring the San Andreas in VR for Meta Quest 2, the dev that developed L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files for Rockstar Games. Fans of the UEVR mod are quite ecstatic since Praydog made GTA San Andreas available for virtual reality before Rockstar officially did. Regardless, that is far from all; the mod has brought thousands of other Unreal Engine 4 and 5 AAA games into VR.

It is worth noting that the UEVR mod only works for Unreal Engine 4 and 5 titles. Now, fans predict that other games from GTA Trilogy will also be playable in VR in the near future, if not now. On the other hand, users have shown concern since Take-Two may take legal action against Praydog’s new mod for making GTA San Andreas playable in VR without the publisher’s consent. It is known for being harsh against mods of these natures.

The mod may shake the whole gaming scene since almost every Unreal Engine 4 and 5 game can run in VR. Some may need tinkering, like custom code and profiles. Other playable titles include Returnal, Stray, Ghostrunner, Hogwarts Legacy, Days Gone, Borderlands 3, and many more.
