The news comes from SourceVR Mod Team who’ve been working on this passion project for years. The official teaser for this Half-Life 2 VR project was released six years ago with an actual trailer being released in September of 2022. It goes to show how committed the team was to their project for powering through the challenges and releasing their product. SourceVR Mod Team released the Virtual Reality mod for Episode One two months ago.
Virtual Reality has been a rather interesting phenomenon within the gaming industry. One can’t help but wonder what it would feel like to play all these classic titles in VR. With the way developers and modders continue to implement this technology, it’s safe to say that there is a lot of potential here.
Half-Life 2 launched to universal acclaim in 2004. Having received over 30 game-of-the-year awards, the title skyrocketed toward the pinnacle leaving behind a legacy. Despite facing severe hiccups in its development a year before release, Half-Life 2 saw critical and commercial success in the industry.
In other news, the first Half-Life game recently got a visual upgrade with full ray-tracing support. Seeing how creative and passionate the gaming community can be is impressive, to say the least.
