Leaked Prototype Footage Claimed To Be From Plant vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 3

The alleged footage were uploaded on Twitter.

The Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare series, a spin-off series from the main Plants Vs. Zombies franchise, was initially a success. Though the third game of the series, Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville, left a somewhat bitter taste in the fans of the franchise, they were still excited for the fourth game of the spin-off series.

But EA, the publishers of the franchise, have done nothing but disappoint them. They have made no signs or indicated in any way their intentions for continuing the series. Now few video clips were uploaded on Twitter, which the user claims are from early build of Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 3 game.

MAJOR TAKEAWAYS

  • Three clips claimed to be of Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 3 prototype were uploaded on Twitter.
  • The authencity of this claim is being questioned by many. As the clips bear similarities to previous PvZ GW series games.
  • In the past EA was quick to get the leaked trailer of Battle for Neighborville removed. So the fact these clips are still up casts more doubts on this claim.
  • There have been no information on GW3 being in development before, further raising doubts.

The first clip shows a plant taking on prototype zombies. While the second has prototype zombie talking. Both of these clips are from third-person perspective, which is consistent with Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare series.

But the legitimacy of the clips is highly questionable. As a few Twitter users pointed out, the clips bear uncanny resemblance to the second game of the Plant vs. Zombies Garden Warfare series, Garden Warfare 2.

The resemblance doesn’t end there. It even has one stark similarity with Battle for Neighborville(BFN), the third game of the series. The sprint metre bar seen in the first clip is the same as the one used in BFN.

One more thing elobareted by users was the fact that BFN is technically a third installment of the series. So it is quite possible the developers might have codenamed it Garden Warfare 3(GW3). And maybe that is why the leaker mistook it as something related to GW3.

Lastly, PopCap Games, the developers of Plants vs. Zombies and subsidiary of EA, are already working on PvZ 3, the third game of the main series. And looking at the their track record, it is very likely unlikely for them to develop two games at the same time.

Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare is a third-person shooter series, unlike the main series which is a strategy tower defense game. The players controls plants fighting to save the world from zombie invasion. The series also has both competitive and cooperative multiplayer, where the player can choose to control plants or zombies.

Plants vs. Zombies GW has huge potential. It is quite unfortunate how EA has handled the series, especially the third game. And despite the appearance of these alleged video leaks, the chances of getting the fourth game are quite bleak.

What are the chances of EA releasing fourth game of GW series? Discuss in the comments below.
