Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Might Be Releasing Fall 2023

A writer for the game has leaked the release window on her personal website.

Sony releases a myriad of exclusives every year and most of them are massively successful both commercially and critically. From recent releases like God of War Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West to past gems like The Last of Us 2, the company rarely misses. Probably the biggest one of its exclusive games is yet to come in the form of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

The sequel to 2018’s mega-success only has no release window as of yet and we only know that it will release at some point in 2023. However, that is about to change as a writer on the game has leaked the release window. Jamie Mayer revealed on the screenwriting section of her website that Spider-Man 2 will release in the Fall of 2023.

Major Takeaways

  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 might be released in the fall of 2023.
  • Jamie Mayer, who is a writer on the game, had a sentence on her website showing this date.
  • Since then, the release window is no longer on the website hinting at its accuracy.

Evan Filarca on Twitter first reported this breaking news to Spider-Man and gaming fans alike. Since the news broke out, the release date has been removed from Jamie Mayer’s personal website. But there is no need to worry as Filarca’s Tweet contains a screenshot of the sentence confirming the release.

Hence, we will most probably see Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 hit stores in the fall of 2023. This comes out only a day after the game went up on the PlayStation Store. Even though you couldn’t buy the game players could add it to their wish list.

Insomniac also replied to a fan on Twitter recently and said that the game’s development was on track for its release date. The first trailer did come out way back in 2021 so it has been a long time. So, all signs are pointing out that the game will most probably release around this time.

Sony and PlayStation have no set pattern for their release dates for exclusive titles. Death Stranding was released in November of 2019, Ragnarok came out this November while God of War hit the stores in April, and Ghost of Tsushima came out in July. Hence, there is no way to predict when a game will release.

The release of the original Marvel’s Spider-Man was in September 2018, which is around fall time. So, the sequel releasing in the fall is a pretty safe guess seeing the first game’s release. Even with the evidence though, release dates change all the time and there is no certainty it will release in the fall.

But, Mayer’s changing the date after the initial discovery is a bit suspicious. It makes us believe that this could be true and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 might release in the fall. Only time can tell if this will be the case or not and we are eagerly waiting.

Another interesting thing on her website is the fact that she is the writer of Wolverine games. Only one game on the character is official as of yet so the plural noun is piquing our interest. Maybe a sequel to the game is already in the works for the X-Men mutant.

Jamie Mayers has done a lot of work besides Spider-Man and all signs point to the sequel being terrific. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 release in 2023 according to the official date, exclusively on the PlayStation 5. Hopefully, the game comes out sooner rather than later so we can enjoy it.
