New Bully Rating Sparks Remake Rumors, But There’s A Catch

The ratings might not just mean anything substantial.

Story Highlights

  • Rockstar’s Bully has been rated for next-gen consoles by the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee.
  • The rating has sparked remake/remaster rumors for the game, which seem too far-fetched.
  • There is a more plausible reason for these ratings. It is launching on GTA+ for next-gen consoles.

As spotted by Gematsu, Rockstar Games’ Bully has now been rated for next-gen consoles by the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee. These ratings—covering all the major consoles since last-gen—have been marked with a PG-15 label for including mature plot points that might not be suitable for all age groups. Additionally, they have confused the fans, with many presuming that a remake or a remaster could finally be in the works.

However, as the video game researcher @Kurakasis on Twitter points out, these ratings are more likely to be nothing burgers. Bully is joining the GTA+ service in two days, which will allow players to enjoy the game on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles. So, the ratings are more likely to be connected to it than a remake or remaster.

Rockstar Should Come Back To Bully Franchise After GTA 6

It’s clear that Bully fans are starving for any sort of remake or sequel in the franchise. However, the pin-drop silence by the devs does imply that Rockstar does not appear to have any plans for the IP at the moment. The studio has become a behemoth that only likes to work on huge titles, which is in contrast to a time when it would allow smaller studios to whip up side projects to make extra dough; that’s how Bully was born.

All in all, while rumors of a Bully remaster or a remake might sound like a dream come true for many fans, it’s worth remembering that devs often refresh ratings for games after many years. Additionally, as said above, the GTA+ launch connection is more likely. So, it is best to take the ratings for next-gen consoles with a huge grain of salt
