A New Spyro Game By Toys For Bob Is Looking Like A Real Possibility

The last original Spyro iteration came out in 2008.

Story Highlights

  • Sypro, the iconic PlayStation classic, has long been dormant, outside of a remake trilogy in 2018.
  • Toys for Bob, the developer of said trilogy, is now teasing what clearly looks like another Spyro.
  • Take it with a grain of salt, because the information has not been officially corroborated yet.

Spyro is a name that needs no introduction to those who have been around in the gaming scene for as long as they can remember. The iconic action platformer traces its origins back to the late 1990s, with only a remake of the original trilogy getting released in 2018. For a decade, there has not been a new iteration in the franchise, but hold on, that might be changing soon.

Toys for Bob, the now-independent developer who has partnered up with Xbox to get its next game published, has let out what seems to be a tease for a potential Spyro game. Fans are of the opinion that the newly built website’s look heavily resembles the primary color of Spyro, which is all purple, along with a touch of gold.

If you scroll down to the “Recent Games” section, you’ll find a mystery title there, denoted by a question mark. Some eagle-eyed users were able to mark a horn-like structure in that graphic, but this could very well be a coincidence.

In any case, what seals the deal here is a cryptic statement from the time when Toys for Bob became an independent developer, asking fans to “keep your horns on” as we wait for more news to follow through.

Spyro 4 Would Be Extremely Welcome

Fans of the franchise have been eyeing a Spyro game for as long as one can remember, but unluckily, no prospect has been able to come to fruition so far. Considering that Spyro is one of the anointed few games that put the PS1 on the map back, the franchise is definitely worthy of a new iteration after all these years. I do hope that the newly launched website of Toys of Bob is more than just a slight tease.

Spyro the Dragon (1998) is a creative blast that's even better today.
