Redfall Players Unhappy With The Devs’ Silence On Post-Launch Content Despite Previous Claims

Arkane has mostly stayed silent on the matter after earlier statements.

Story Highlights

  • The players are quite unhappy with the silence of the devs, with many losing faith and feeling shunned by the studio. Many players had paid extra for extra characters but have not received any.
  • The game has only received hotfixes and other small patches that squash many of the lingering issues in the game. Arkane Austin has not yet commented on the planned content for the entry.
  • The vampire-slaying venture was met with scorn upon release due to a plethora of bugs and glitches that impacted its performance. It came out on Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PC on May 2, 2023.

Redfall’s release was a buggy mess with gameplay that did not appeal to most players. Arkane Austin has fixed many of the lingering issues in the following hotfixes but stayed completely silent about the previously-announced post-launch content. The cold shoulder has caused many loyal Redfall players to feel shunned by the studio. A new Reddit post made on the Xbox Series X subreddit reflects the thoughts of the users perfectly.

3 months after release & Redfall has had no substantial update. People are also still waiting on the additional content they paid for.

The Redditor u/welshdragon888 says that Phil Spencer and Arkane Austin have not kept up with the community after the game was released. In the past, Arkane Austin creative director Harvey Smith claimed in an interview that Redfall would be its most-supported endeavor post-launch, causing a surge of excitement and encouraging many players to pay the additional price for the extra stuff.

I think the silence from Arkane, Bethesda and Xbox here is absolutely deafening. I love Xbox and I love Phill Spencer, but we as a community absolutely have to hold them accountable when things go wrong and they don’t support their community as promised,” reads the Reddit post.

However, players who paid for the additional content are still waiting for any sort of news or community updates from the developers after three months since it came out. “But the lack of communication and sheer time that’s gone by without anything of any substance here is simply not good enough.”

Redfall devs had promised additional characters for players who paid more for the Bite Back edition. A 60 FPS version was also seemingly promised for the Xbox Series X players. Regardless, Arkane Austin has not released any content updates in the whole three months, and there have been no announcements to confirm that it’s working on any post-launch content at all.

Bare minimum Arkane need to communicate their intent soon, give people an update on what we can expect and when we can expect it. Then, they need to deliver on those dates and if not, be held accountable.”

All the players in the comments have agreed with the Redditor. Some users are even asking Arkane Austin for refunds to be issued for those who paid extra for the additional characters if it is unable to launch post-release content in the future. Arkane Austin has yet to comment on the future updates for Redfall and its progress with the promised content.

Microsoft’s first-party title had quite a fatal launch after much anticipation from the gaming industry. It has not aged well so far, losing almost more than half its player base in only a few days after release. Many users hopped off the vampire-slaying venture by now, and those who stuck around for post-launch content and improvements have only been met with quietness. Redfall was released on Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PC on May 2, 2023.
