Capcom has made the right decision to remake many of its Resident Evil masterpieces. Many of them have gone on to be highly successful, after all. As reported by one of Capcom’s handles on Twitter, the Resident Evil 2 remake has now broken through an inconceivable sales milestone. The entry has sold over 13.9 million copies, which makes it the best-selling single SKU in the entire series. But there’s a twist to this new achievement.
Resident Evil 5 is still the best-selling overall title in the series, with its motley of editions coming together to accumulate around 14.6 million units. However, it won’t take long for the remake to surpass that if its current pace is anything to go by. Regardless, the devs are celebrating and have thanked the fans for this milestone.
Resident Evil 2 Remake Renovates The Original In All The Best Ways
The 2019 remake was highly successful because it did not completely change the title that fans knew and loved. Instead, it touched on all the right places to bring the experience to modern consoles. The title comes with much-needed options, such as 4K resolution and 60 frames per second. Besides technical upgrades, the gameplay also got a lot of love from Capcom, with new features that elevate the remake.
