Within a week into its launch, Resident Evil 4 Remake has already surpassed 3 million units in sales. As stated by Capcom in a press release, the title is off to a solid start following the release of the demo and positive reviews. Owing to Capcom’s track record with the Resident Evil remakes, fans had been waiting anxiously for the fourth entry due to the legacy of the original game.
Resident Evil 4‘s remake had the monumental task of recreating the original experience that launched in 2005. The game that changed the landscape of survival-horror and third-person shooters. Universally accepted as one of the best Resident Evil games, players were a bit concerned about how Capcom would recapture that lightning in a bottle.
It’s safe to say that Resident Evil 4 Remake has achieved its goal in spectacular fashion. Not only has it sold millions within a week, but it was also the greatest launch of a Resident Evil game on Steam. Considering the achievements of the original game, the remake had to not only be on the same level by default but had to feel modernized as well.
Capcom has done a great job of reworking the core gameplay mechanics while making some of the lesser parts of the original into phenomenal set pieces. Despite some questionable decisions, such as the removal of a particular boss and the overhaul of its economy, Resident Evil 4 Remake is a hallmark of excellence.
The greatest achievement is its performance on all platforms at launch, perhaps, which is unequivocally a horrifying scenario these days, especially for PC players. Despite some hiccups in visual fidelity and minor frame drops in graphically-intensive areas, this game is by far the greatest AAA launch of 2023.
You can experience the nightmare that changed the landscape of gaming on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC.
