In its recent H1/Q2 earnings report, Nacon uncovered that its upcoming first-person shooter RoboCop: Rogue City is already achieving sales milestones. According to the French publisher, the new entry in the RoboCop franchise has accomplished “record pre-sales” ahead of its November release. This is amidst the quarterly revenue and first-half numbers being down for Nacon in FY23/24,
Developed by Teyon in partnership with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, RoboCop: Rogue City is the first game in 20 years based on the popular movie series that is coming to consoles. Announced back in July 2021, the FPS will feature an original story based on the first three movies and will stay faithful to the lore. In addition, the original RoboCop actor Peter Weller has reprised his role as the protagonist as well.
Originally, Nacon was also going to release a port of RoboCop: Rogue City on the Nintendo Switch. However, after the game’s first demo came out in October, the developer canceled this version of the first-person shooting game. No apparent reason was provided for the decision, with Nacon just saying there are currently no plans for a Switch port of the title.
As a result, RoboCop: Rogue City is only going to launch on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC when it hits the stores on November 2, 2023, and will skip the Switch. In addition to RoboCop, Nacon also gave us updates about some other games, including Cricket 24: Official Game of the Ashes.
As the financial report notes elsewhere, Nacon has shared some info about Gangs of Sherwood, saying the upcoming action game has received “good previews.” Due to this packed release slate and some current titles selling well, Nacon is expecting strong growth in the second half of FY23/24. Surprisingly, the document had no mention of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, though.
You would expect a game that caused a development studio to shut down, led to a game cancellation, resulted in lay-offs, and got a 34 Metacritic score to at least get a mention, but that wasn’t the case. It seems like Nacon only focused on the positives and one of them is definitely RoboCop: Rogue City, which launches on November 2, 2023, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
