Sea of Stars by Sabotage Studios is a gorgeously pixelated adventure. The lore of this stellar title is extremely beautiful and thoughtful. Sea of Stars tells the story of two Children of the Solstice who combine their powers of the Sun and Moon to perform Eclipse Magic. The only type of magic to damage the world’s creatures.
Sea of Stars is extremely reminiscent of games like Hyper Light Drifter and Celeste in terms of art style. But follows a story of something grand like Final Fantasy. Sabotage Studios had released a game before named The Messenger (A generally well-received title). With this success, they decided to make a game to supersede The Messenger entirely.
The creators have toiled hard to craft this gem and showed the progress to the community on their YouTube channel. Originally revealed over 2 years ago, the community knew that the release was drawing closer. Today, the release was officially slated for 2023.

The heartfelt tweet reveals the official release of Sea of Stars and why the release isn’t as close as people were expecting. The team states that their focus is the quality of the game and the “quality of life for their team.”
The developers cited, “Keeping in mind our two main priorities – the quality of life for our team and quality of the finished game – we can now confirm that Sea of Stars will be released in 2023.” The studio also requests the players to wait patiently, as they explore options to get a “playable slice” out this year. It is likely to be a demo or open beta but the team has not elaborated on it.
Seeing as the studio spent around 2 years solely putting all their hearts into Sea of Stars, giving them more time isn’t an issue. The team behind this amazing indie has quite an imagination but it will take a little more to be metamorphosed into reality. In many of their videos and teasers, the developers have also shown us many concepts, images, and gameplay.
The tweet elaborates that the turn-based RPG is near, but not complete in development. Sea of Stars is sure to turn out amazing, with pixelated goodness, extremely deep combat, and lush worlds to explore. The game is aiming to shake the indie world with its allure.
