Ray tracing is a technology that allows games to model realistic lighting effects and shadows. First used in animation, improvements in hardware technology allow modern games to run with raytracing at high frame rates.
Starfield is set to launch sometime in the Spring of 2023. The space exploration RPG is the next major game from Bethesda Game Studios and its first original IP in over 20 years. It follows the studio’s other big hits such as Fallout 4 and Skyrim.
