In an interview published on Ruliweb, Stellar Blade director Hyung-Tae Kim addressed the growing controversy about its depiction of female characters. It has been raised as a point of contention by select Western media. As translated by Genki on Twitter, the director accepts that game characters have to meet realistic standards in the West. However, he hopes the fans will enjoy the title as just another fun action experience.

I know that in the West, game characters have to be realistic in many ways and that there are numerous issues involved such as gender, race, diversity etc. But Stellar Blade is only an entertainment and cultural work. I hope people will look at it as just another fun action game that has been released,” says the director.

He is asking the community to enjoy Stellar Blade for what it is. Regardless, the rest of the interview touches on the game’s difficulty and the best way to approach the combat.

Despite the lingering controversies, the action-packed RPG by Shift Up has garnered a lot of attention from the players.
