The Walking Dead: Destinies has been under a barrage of criticism by gamers online for competing to become the worst title in 2023. It launched with little hype on the consoles and became the latest laughingstock on social media and forums alike. The game essentially allows players to fight walkers and relive the iconic moments of The Walking Dead universe to explore the most gripping “what-ifs” but goes about it in the worst way possible.
Apart from being a horrible game, worst of 2023 along Gollum.

As a result, The Walking Dead: Destinies is going against The Lord of the Rings: Gollum and the publisher GameMill Entertainment’s other game, Skull Island: Rise of Kong, to compete for the worst 2023 entry. The gamers have also poked fun at the hilarity of the publisher’s name amidst the negative reception of its projects.

The pitched ambitions of the game appear to be grandeur. Unfortunately, the title appears to have no redeeming qualities. Some players have defined it as one of those mobile game ads we are often bombarded with, except the gameplay is the most mundane thing about it. Others think the devs have pulled a prank to check the reaction of the fans —an unlikely scenario but unsurprising that it is being assumed.

The Walking Dead title fails to be good at anything and does not resemble an actual project. Compared to other poor entries of this year, there is nothing to appreciate except its shoddy attempt at giving us alternatives to some of the story moments. Expect to run into hilarious and annoying glitches, static cutscenes straight out of the early PS2 era, awkward gameplay moments, and more.

The lackluster cutscenes make it challenging to take any of the story moments seriously. The Walking Dead: Destinies allow players to make influential choices, such as picking between Rick or Shane to lead the group, making an enemy or ally of the governor for the cause, and more. However, each choice can come back to bite you because of the ensuing consequences.

The low budget and limited production window may have played a major role in causing the devs to cut so many corners. Nevertheless, the fans have pointed out that The Walking Dead: Destinies is certainly not worth its cost. It is currently going for $49.99 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X. A release is also planned by the devs for PC for next week.
