Ubisoft Likely To Reveal New Info About Open-World Star Wars Game In 2023

Tweet from Ubisoft Creative Director hints towards news of their eagerly awaited open-world Star Wars game in 2023.

Lucasfilm ended the exclusivity deal they had with Electronic Arts, allowing other companies to make a game with the IP. A number of new Star Wars games were announced and with the successful release of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, fans have been looking forward to these new exciting entries taking place in a far far away galaxy.

About 2 years ago, it was announced that Massive Entertainment, a division of Ubisoft and the group behind critically acclaimed games like The Division Series, was developing a Star Wars-themed game.

Not much was revealed about the title other than that it will be a “new story-driven open-world video game set in the Star Wars Galaxy”. This statement alone was enough to get the fans hyped for the title because we have been in need of an open-world Star Wars game for quite a long time.

                                                                                  Major Takeaways.

  • A tweet from Ubisoft‘s Creative Director teases new information about the open-world Star Wars game.
  • Everything we know about the title until now.

A Creative Director from Ubisoft recently tweeted wishing everyone a happy new year but this tweet has since got all the Star Wars fans excited.

The reason for this excitement lies in the photo he shared alongside hinting toward some kind of reveal from their highly anticipated open-world Star Wars game currently in development at Massive Entertainment.

Prominent industry leaker and former eXputer employee Tom Henderson was asked about the Star Wars title on Twitter to which he replied, “I think that’s probably the furthest title from release and we’re probably looking at 2025 at the earliest for it.

But now it seems we might actually get a little taste of the game way sooner than expected.

Ubisoft stated that the Star Wars game will use The Division 2’s Snowdrop engine. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is also being developed utilizing Snowdrop, according to the studio. Fans will have a chance to view what the game might look like in the future because the game is scheduled to come out before Star Wars.

In August of 2022, we got an update from Ubisoft for the first time after the game was announced back in January 2021.

In order to strengthen Massive Entertainment’s staff, Ubisoft Toronto conducted a significant hiring drive. There were job openings on the Ubisoft recruitment website for positions ranging from Team Lead Gameplay Animator to Level Artist, Associate Producer to Concept Artist.

This assured the fans that production for the title is underway.

There won’t be a lack of Star Wars game content for fans, even though it might take some time before Massive Entertainment makes any updates. With the release of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 right around the corner, it seems to be an interesting moment to be a Star Wars fan.
