Need for Speed: Most Wanted is seemingly getting a highly anticipated fan remake using Unreal Engine 5. The YouTuber NostalgiaNexus is working on it solo by recreating parts of the map at a time. A new video uploaded by him showcases the original 2005 release in contrast with the new remake, highlighting the massive difference in textures, visuals, and the overall feel of the game. Even the skybox appears to have been massively improved.
The effect of speeding feels much more gratifying in the remake, which is also a far cry from the dumbed-down versions we’ve seen in the recent Need for Speed releases. Regardless, the reception of the community is as positive as it gets, with many excited to get their hands on the remake.
The Need For Speed: Most Wanted Remake Could Turn Out Great
For those who grew up playing the early Need for Speed entries, Most Wanted stood out to many of us for its intense police chases and the classical golden filter that was popular in the era. So, having it reimagined in Unreal Engine 5 with gorgeous visuals and new police AI is the perfect nostalgia trip we could’ve asked for. And if that wasn’t enough, the improved shadows and textures make it look like the game came out this year.

All in all, it is exactly unclear whether the Need for Speed: Most Wanted fan remake will ever even come out for us all in a playable state. No release date has been shared so far. Additionally, similar reports last year also showcased the remake’s gameplay, but not many updates seem to have been made to the pre-alpha dev version since then. As a result, it is best to take the progress with a pinch of salt until we hear more about it.
