Story Highlights
- Astro Bot is a tech-demo-turned-full-platformer for the PS5, making landfall later this year.
- According to Team Asobi’s chief Nicolas Doucet, the game will receive post-launch DLC.
- The content of the DLC will revolve around “smaller” platforming challenges, and more.
Team Asobi finally made it official this past State of Play that it’s working to push out the studio’s very first full-blown platformer in the name of Astro Bot later this year, all thanks to the bustling success of the demo-natured Astro’s Playroom on the PlayStation 5. Now, according to Team Asobi’s head Nicolas Doucet, it seems we’re in for a treat not just with the title’s imminent launch.
Nicolas spoke to IGN in a recent interview, confirming the studio’s plans for Astro Bot’s free DLC which would eventually be rolled out after the game’s release. The base idea surrounding the DLC would be to add more challenges to the, well, already challenge-focused platformer, but Nicolas also hints that other types of content could be added down the road as well.
The latter would include dedicated character-themed levels, considering the game itself will feature over 150 different cameos of PlayStation characters, including Aloy from Horizon and Kratos from God of War. More levels revolving around even more icons like those might flow to Astro Bot in the form of free DLC. Amazing and a welcome surprise by all means.

The platformer is seemingly back in all its glory, with apparent upgrades and improvements over its tech demo predecessor.
