Sony has recently released the latest PlayStation 5 beta update to bring forth a slew of new features for the community. Many new accessibility features have been added alongside a pinch of other enhancements. The console also supports larger-capacity support for M.2 SSD, giving gamers more storage to store AAA entries without deleting one or the other.

The beta also includes more options to quickly find games and console tips, new ways to connect with other players and customize your multiplayer sessions, and support for larger-capacity M.2 SSDs (up to 8TB),” iterates Sony team in the new blog.

The accessibility features will let disabled gamers take advantage of two controllers as if they were one. In other words, you can use a second controller with one account as an assist controller and assign two controllers to work with your PlayStation 5 console as if you were using a single controller. The feature will allow you to enjoy games collaboratively with others or help your friends and family in especially challenging parts of a title.

An assist controller can be used when your main controller is a DualSense or DualSense Edge controller or any of the PS5-supported third-party controllers. Moreover, haptic feedback effects can now be turned on while navigating your PS5 with your DualSense controller, DualSense Edge controller, or PSVR 2 Sense controller.

The new dynamic haptic system will reflect the system’s sound effects for certain events physically through haptics. Some examples include “moving focus, reaching the end limit of a scrollable section, checking a box, or when you receive a notification or boot up a game.” The feature is particularly useful for gamers with slight hearing or sight disabilities.

Additionally, compatibility support for Dolby Atmos-enabled audio devices is arguably one of the biggest features in the new system update. It will allow for even greater levels of audio immersion in the PlayStation 5 games.

Many little social feature enhancements are included in the new beta to change the user experience considerably. Now players can be invited to a closed party without automatically adding them to the group or creating a new group. Gamers can now send open or closed-party invitations to whole groups instead of only a single player.

More features have been added to the activities section. The players can search for games within their PlayStation 5 libraries. Messages can be reacted with emojis and much more. Unfortunately, the new update is currently only available to a select few countries with limited users. It will likely roll out to the general public in the near future. An email invitation will be rolled out to users today eligible for the new PlayStation 5 beta.

Features like the larger-capacity M.2 SSD support will be a game changer for the PlayStation ecosystem. It is worth noting that some of the added features in the PlayStation 5 beta system update may not make it to the final release.
