Xbox Version Of FINAL FANTASY XIV Teased Once Again

In recent years, FINAL FANTASY XIV has been one of the most famous games that Square Enix has developed. With an average of up to 30,000 active players every month, the game has completely revolutionised the MMORPG genre. Currently, FINAL FANTASY XIV is only available to play on PC and PlayStation consoles. However, that’s about to change as Square Enix has suggested, once again, that the game could be making its way to Xbox consoles.

Recently, in an interview with Easy Allies on YouTube, Naoki Yoshida, the producer and director of FINAL FANTASY XIV, discussed the ongoing conversations with Microsoft Corporation to bring the game to Xbox consoles. “I feel bad for saying the same thing every time, but we are still in discussions with Microsoft, and I feel like our discussions are going in a positive-like tone,” he said.

“I don’t want to say we do not have an Xbox version, but I’m hoping that the timing will be very soon that I will have some kind of update to the players. I’m sure there’s a lot of things that people want to ask about on this subject, and there’s a lot of things I want to share, but I’m afraid I’m unable to divulge on those details, so when the time comes… I’m sure the time will come, so if you could kindly stand by, that’d be great,” he further told.

Of course, this isn’t the first time that Naoki Yoshida has teased an Xbox version of FINAL FANTASY XIV. In an interview with VG247, Naoki Yoshida confirmed that “there are no obstacles for developing the Xbox version.” He further said, “Since we’re currently involved in the development of Endwalker and preparing the PS5 version to follow on from the title’s service on PS4, it’d be appreciated if we can return to touch upon the Xbox version once things have settled!”

FINAL FANTASY XIV has seen a massive increase in popularity since its release. As a result, even the game’s servers were congested due to the high demand and Square Enix had to expand its infrastructure. It would make sense for the company to market the game to a wider audience. However, there still hasn’t been any confirmation about it coming to Xbox consoles.

Back in November 2019, while talking with Eurogamer, Phil Spencer, the Head of Xbox, promised that the game would be releasing on Xbox consoles soon, saying, “We have a great relationship with Yoshida-san, and we’re working through what it means to bring a cross-platform MMO that they’ve run for years. But it will be one of the games that’s coming and it’s something I know our Xbox fans will be incredibly excited to see.” Since then, many players have been anxiously waiting for FINAL FANTASY XIV’s release on Xbox consoles.
