Modern Warfare Remastered Review Bombed After Activision Shuts Down MW2 Multiplayer Mod

After towering Steam sales for a few days, Modern Warfare Remastered has now fallen harder than ever before. The game has been review bombed on the platform after Activision shut down a highly anticipated mod dubbed H2M. It was expected to bring a refreshed multiplayer part of Modern Warfare 2 into the remastered entry, which would have brought a whole new audience to the game for old time’s sake.

At the time of writing, Modern Warfare Remastered is currently sitting at the “overwhelmingly negative” review score on Steam, with the overall score having a “mixed” rating. A slew of players have expressed their frustration in the reviews, especially those who downloaded the entry just for the H2M mod. The mod was shut down a day before it was intended to launch.

I wasted $20 because i was hoping that I could get to play H2M mod since activision doesn’t want to make a functional multiplayer to a remaster of one of their best selling games in the franchise. Just for me to get robbed. The game publisher sent a cease and desist to a mod that they themselves couldn’t produce on their own,” reads a review.

The FPS Was Dominating Steam Because Of The Mod’s Awaited Arrival

All that rage because of the H2M mod had caused MW Remastered to rise through the Steam charts, becoming popular enough to be the third best-selling title for a while. A well-timed sale had also played a role in bringing a bunch of new folks to the entry, but all that hype went down the drain when Activision decided to shut down the mod.

Activision has yet to issue a statement after striking down the mod for Modern Warfare Remastered. The mod was in development for a few years and would have featured over 50 maps, an updated progression system, and new attachments and camos that were not available in the original game.
