One of the best and most addicting indie games of last year is finally making its way out of Early Access very soon! Vampire Survivors was a top-down reverse bullet-hell roguelike (try saying that 5 times in a row) developed by a single person “poncle”.
After a long early access period, poncle has confirmed that the full release for Vampire Survivors is coming on October 20, this year.
“poncle” recently announced the update in the game’s Steam community forum. The 1.0 update will make a lot of balancing tweaks across the board and all of the new content in the update is kept as a surprise for players that will offer “a little something for everyone.”
Major Takeaways:
- Full release launching on October 20.
- New content will be slowly teased starting 7th October till release.
- New engine port is slated to release near the end of the year.
It has also been confirmed that the game will be supported with a lot of new content post 1.0 launch.
While the game might be content complete, Vampire Survivors doesn’t end here and a lot more surprises are in the works. A LOT.
A new engine port for Vampire Survivor is also being worked on. This port is slated to launch near the end of this year and aims to fix a lot of the issues present in the current port of the game such as crashes, input issues, cloud save conflicts, and poor framerates while also adding native Linux support.
“poncle” wraps up the update by mentioning that he’s going to be dropping small hints and teasers regarding the new content over the coming weeks ahead of the 1.0 launch.
We need plenty of time and focus to wrap up the content for v1.0, but starting from the 7th October we will also be posting little teasers and spoilers about it on the usual socials and Discord. We’ll start exactly 14 days before release, by revealing something new every day. Sometimes just a little detail, sometimes something slightly bigger :)”
Vampire Survivors is one of the most addicting and fun indie games I’ve had the pleasure of playing in a long while. It captures that “just one more run” feeling that only the best roguelikes can give, which is why I consider this one of my favorites in the genre alongside Risk of Rain 2, Dead Cells, Hades, and Slay the Spire.
Vampire Survivors feels endlessly replayable due to the vast number of options you have and the sheer variety in the broken builds you can make in just a short 15–20-minute run. The game is psychologically designed to get you to keep playing as much as possible but in a good way, unlike many AAA or live-service games.
As such it’s great to know that not only is this title finally coming out of early access but that there is a lot more to look forward to in the future, as well as in whatever “poncle” makes after he finishes up with Vampire Survivors.
