The Sims 5 announcement took place just a few weeks ago, with behind-the-scenes playtests already commencing for the pre-alpha builds. However, the playtesting came with its heap of troubles, with the game already being cracked and distributed online. It was only a matter of time before images started surfacing.

Otherwise known as Project Rene, The Sims 5 pre-alpha build images have leaked on the web, spreading around the official The Sims subreddit. The random off-screen screenshots you are about to witness below were shared by a Reddit user named u/MeowDayThe13th on the r/thesims subreddit.

Before proceeding, it is worth noting that everything is subject to change. The Sims 5 is in quite the early stages, and the final product may look a whole lot better. The leaked images in no way show how the game may look and play after release; take the grainy pictures with a pinch of salt.

The Workshop feature also contained tutorials meant to guide the testers and may be integrated as a tutorial in the final product.

Moreover, the furniture can also be shared and customized, with other players allegedly having access to the uploaded furniture sets.

The Redditor had access to the specific playtest, targeted toward new buildings and furniture features. The world available to test was miniature and limited, but we did get a little glimpse of early visuals to satiate the fans’ expectations. The following playtests may see more ambition and refinements down the road.

The Reddit user u/MeowDayThe13th also elaborated on his experience and what the playtest featured in the current pre-alpha build of The Sims 5. The preview build only featured four apartments that could be customized, and there was not much else to do. 

They replied to a query, “This play test mostly was focusing on the new building and furniture features. It had 4 preset studio apartments for you to mess around in or an empty one for you to build in. The Sims 5 playtesting had a rocky start, and we expect to see more images eventually pop up on the vast internet because of the initial hack and distribution attempt. The game may be years away, and we may not hear anything about its release for a long time. The title is in a skeletal stage, only beginning to take shape. 

On a side note, The Sims 4 base game was made free to play, and that brought forth a new resurgence of players pouring into the nostalgic experience. The nearly-decade-old game has dominated the social-simulation genre like its predecessors, and the next rendition may follow the same footprint.
