It hasn’t been a day over a week for Death’s Door, and the lively indie RPG already has more than 100,000 concurrent players – no small feat by any stretch of the imagination. The title was released on July 20, 2021, exclusively for the Xbox consoles and PC, and has been received exceptionally well all across the face of the internet. IGN calls it “a must for those looking to scratch the itch of a classic Zelda dungeon-delving game” while Game Informer thinks of the Zelda-like as an “entertaining, densely-packed trip to the other side.”
Developer Acid Nerve took to Twitter to announce the celebration. They feel grateful for the support their project has gotten, and look forward to more achievements such as this one.
Death’s Door is teeming with attention to detail, and this is what personally drives us cray cray to witness firsthand. The game was announced over 4 months ago and has been attributing to a high-end experience ever since. It feels remarkable knowing that the title has been subject to the critical acclaim it rightfully deserves as of late.
In addition to that, the game has amassed a total of 1,095 reviews on Steam with the vast majority of them being overwhelmingly positive. Words such as “beautifully polished,” and “excellent aesthetic” have adorned the recently-released dungeon-crawler. It’s being called a masterpiece by all those who have given it a go, not to mention the adorable crow you play as. One player wishes there was a dedicated “caw” button implemented in the game.
The story of the game revolves around a soul-reaping crow who works for a like-minded organization. You seep through the adventure by hacking and slashing your enemies and collecting their souls. A twist is introduced when one of your victim’s soul is stolen, and you have to embark on a roguelike journey to extract what is thoroughly yours.
