Some PlayStation 3 users are facing an error while installing a game they have already purchased from the PlayStation Store. This error reportedly started coming up after the PlayStation firmware update that rolled out earlier today.
A Reddit user, u/vixkers, posted on the official subreddit of PS3 about being unable to install the games he purchased from the PSN Store. According to them, the error shows up before the PlayStation 3 starts downloading the game.
Several users on Reddit have reported receiving the same error while trying to install the games they already own on their PS3.
Another user reported facing the same error multiple times in the last few weeks, but it usually worked out after multiple tries. However, they’ve been trying for the last 16 hours, and nothing has worked for them since the latest firmware rolled out.
The user also explained that the error only came up when they tried downloading any title requiring a license.
The error is not only limited to game purchases but also comes up before downloading and installing DLC. However, some users have reported that PS accounts without 2-step verification have a better chance of avoiding this error.
Judging from the fact that the error only comes up before the downloading begins may also point toward server issues. Regardless of that, many users have reported facing this issue after the recent firmware update rolled out.
PlayStation 3 was released in 2006, and it has been around for almost 17 years now. Despite being an old-gen console, PS3 is still a go-to for many users who want to try older games.
