The new Elden Ring 1.09 update has finally been released, and it brings the highly awaited ray tracing features to the game. The ray tracing support adds ambient occlusion and raytraced shadows. Unfortunately, no ray-traced reflections have been added so far. The fans have rejoiced at the news, and many are considering playing the hardcore Souls-like title once more to relive The Lands Between experience in mesmerizing visuals.

The major Elden Ring patch has been deployed for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Series S, and PC. However, it is worth noting that turning on ray tracing comes with its own set of hindrances if your PC is unable to handle its needs. As per the patch notes, “performance – such as frame rate and resolution – may be impacted while playing with Ray Tracing on.” Bandai Namco has also iterated on the system specs required for ray tracing.
The minimum PC requirements needed to fire up ray tracing at the “1080p – Low quality – Low Ray Tracing” setting will require the user to equip the rig with an Intel Core i5-10600K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT processor with 16 GB RAM. Moreover, a robust GPU is required, namely the 8 GB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti or the 12 GB AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics processor, for a smooth, low-quality ray tracing experience in Elden Ring.
The maximum PC prerequisites will need an even more powerful system capable of handling the intense GPU and CPU load to boast the “1080p – High quality – High Ray Tracing” settings smoothly. An Intel Core i7-10700K or AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT processor is a must, according to Bandai Namco. Additionally, the 8 GB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti or 16 GB AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT is required by the players for the maximum ray-traced venture.
Furthermore, the new 1.09 patch note brings many PVP changes and bug fixes to smoothen the multiplayer gameplay experience. The update mainly weakens some abilities to curb the powerful impact of specific spells and skills. The update was made to ensure the PVP Colosseum DLC, which was recently added, is fair to every player. Ashes of War also saw balance changes, and a bundle of bug fixes were included in the new update.
The ray tracing support has long been awaited for the entry, previously mentioned by dataminers in a SteamDB update and the old patch notes. Since then, the fans were quite amped up to bask in the high-fidelity visuals while slaying enemies in Elden Ring. Unfortunately, the new update has not added the compelling feature in the last-gen consoles, as their specs were not robust enough to fuel its requirements.
