Ark: Survival Evolved has started receiving a slew of backlash from the fans on its Steam page. The main reason behind a sudden shift by the community has to do with the devs revealing a massive change for the game in the future. The official servers for the beloved game will soon go offline in August, and players will be forced to upgrade to the upcoming Ark: Survival Ascended remaster, which reimagines the Ark universe in Unreal Engine 5.

Studio Wildcard has announced that the Ark: Survival Evolved servers will shut down in the near future.

The pricing set by Studio Wildcard has also been a point of criticism by loyal players. As stated, Studio Wildcard will sell the new Ark Respawned bundle, which contains Ark 2 and Ark: Survival Ascended, for $49.99 USD on Xbox Series X and Series S and PC. PlayStation 5 users can only grab Ark: Survival Ascended for $39.99 USD. The DLC packs will also be sold separately for $20 USD each, adding further fuel to the criticism by the community.

Many users have voiced concern and disdain about Studio Wildcard’s decision to charge a price of $40 instead of a free upgrade for the remaster. Thus, it has started a resurgence of negative reviews targeting the game and warning potential buyers to stray away from the title that is on its last legs. The recently posted section on the Steam page is full of users that have banded together to raise their voices and alert others of the recent changes.

Don’t bother buying this game, since there won’t be support for it after 4 months. Don’t waste your money buying this game, as you will have to buy it again along with all the docs if when ASA come out. Just wait for ASA and decide if the game is good enough to buy. No point playing this game anymore,” said one user in the comments.

The users are quite unhappy with the recent developments, and many have alleged not to pay for the same game twice. The users can keep using the unofficial and personal servers as they will be playable by the fans still wanting to linger in Ark: Survival Evolved. The users interested in keeping up with the official servers will have to pay $40 USD to get a slice of the Ark: Survival Ascended remaster to continue playing.
