Capcom Planning Another Resident Evil Remake, Asks Fans For Input

After the recent success of the Resident Evil 4 remake, Capcom is again almost certainly planning for another remake for one of the games of the horror action game series, as the company in one of its surveys (survey period ended), was seen asking fans if there are any other Resident Evil games [they] want to be remade. The question is posed at the end of the lengthy survey.

However, much of it is dedicated to inquiring the fans about whether they follow Resident Evil’s social media accounts. They are also asked about their exposure to Resident Evil content, including novels, mangas, movies, and of course games. After being asked to name their favorite games and movies, the fans are posed with the question which is the focus of our article, what other Resident Evil games do “they want remade.”

This is also not the first survey of its kind. Capcom has been known to ask the same question in several surveys conducted over the years. The most recent of which was conducted within two weeks of the release of the Resident Evil 4 remake. In that survey, carried out on the 6th of April, the fans were asked that “If a new remake title of the “Resident Evil” series is released, would you like to purchase it?”

Moreover, the response of the fans of the survival horror game series has been very vibrant. Everyone named their favorite games. The games like Outbreak 1 & 2, and Resident Evil 1 and 5 received were the most mentioned games. But they were out eclipsed by the mentions that Code Veronica got. A few also suggested a “change-up” by remastering the Dino Crisis series. Despite the fan response, and looking at the trend, the next game to be remade will most certainly be Resident Evil 5.

Capcom has been actively releasing Resident Evil remakes for several years now. The company has released three remakes in 4 years, starting with the Resident Evil 2 remake in 2019, the Resident Evil 3 remake in 2020, and the Resident Evil 4 remake this year in March. All of the remasters were a commercial success and received overwhelmingly positive reviews. This is very telling as to why would the Japan-based video game company want to continue developing more remasters and build up on that success.

Despite the high possibility of Capcom releasing another remake of the action horror game series, this survey does in no way confirm it. That would only be possible after the Japanese conglomerate announces it officially. But what’s certain is that we are probably more than a few years away from seeing this materialize.
