Story Highlights
- The Day Before has finally launched on Steam in early access but failed to make a fair impression on the players.
- The score stands at an “Overwhelmingly Negative” rating, and reviews are filled with negative remarks.
- The game has been doused in controversy for a slew of reasons, causing the early player response to be sour.
The Day Before was finally released after much controversy and ambiguity surrounded the title. However, its foray into the store has been met with nothing but pessimism. The entry has been labeled as an “overwhelmingly Negative” release by Steam after amassing 15,000+ scores, affirming that it has failed to escape the shackles of controversy despite finally coming out. A bare 17% of the total reviews for the entry are currently positive.
While it is indeed a real project, unlike the rumors suggested, it has quickly dissolved into becoming one of 2023’s most failed releases. A variety of reasons have led to its downfall, but the supposed dishonesty of devs has also deeply strained the perception of gamers. The Day Before has been touted as an open-world MMO entry from the get-go, but there are barely to no open-world or MMO elements in the game.
The entry turned out to be an extraction looter-shooter, something like Escape from Tarkov and the sort. As spotted by the Redditor u/NorthCartographer on the r/TheDayBefore subreddit, FNTASTIC has tried to remove all the mentions of The Day Before being an open-world project from SteamDB by slashing tags. However, the devs failed to change the description of the game from the website and Steam store, at least at the time of writing.

That is not all; The studio has also made several changes to its YouTube account. It has deleted a plethora of videos that pictured The Day Before as an open-world MMO entry. This attempt has been dubbed as a fake marketing scheme, and the devs are now trying to supposedly mask the evidence and hide the massive scam. As a result, many gamers have started to refund the game before Steam’s time limit passes.
Ahahaha.
Not FNTASTIC completely scrubbing their channel to hide any evidence of the fake 'The Day Before' game they marketed.
Left is today.
Right is from earlier this year.

According to player reports, the zombie looter shooter barely reaches 30 FPS, and weapons are easy to acquire. There is also random disappearance of items, no melee weapons, no progression, an inability to jump, subpar shooting mechanics, lousy audio and sounds, an empty “open world,” and much more.
I wanted to give it a chance despite everything this company’s past, but once again I am very disappointed and they promised a massively multiplayer open world survival game and what we have received is an extraction looter shooter,” said Helena on Steam.

Previously, The Day Before was removed from Steam due to copyright claims, which fueled the flames of the project being fake. FNTASTIC has also previously requested volunteers to work on the game. The unorthodox move further spiraled the way most fans saw the game. It was released on December 7, 2023, for PC only.
