Counterplay Games has made a name for itself after the release of its action roleplaying game, Godfall, on PC and PlayStation consoles in November 2020. While the game only received average ratings from critics and players upon release, the company released an expansion for the game, Godfall: Fire & Darkness, alongside the PlayStation 4 version of the game in August 2021. Since then, there hasn’t been much news on what Counterplay Games is currently working on – that is, until now. It seems like the company currently has an unannounced multiplayer strategy roleplaying game under development and this one will be its first mobile game to be released.
Earlier today, we came across a recent job listing on the Counterplay Games website for the Senior Software Engineer position, the description for which reads, “Counterplay Games is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to lead the engineering of a game prototype for an unannounced mobile strategy roleplaying game.” So, it’s certain that the company is working on an unannounced mobile game that seems to be a strategy roleplaying one, perhaps something like the company’s discontinued free-to-play digital collectable card and turn-based strategy game released in 2016, Duelyst.
Furthermore, one of the additional experiences that the candidate can have for the job listing mentions “experience with real-time multiplayer gameplay,” which suggests that this unannounced mobile strategy roleplaying game will also be an online multiplayer one, similar to Duelyst. Unfortunately, this is all the information we have on this upcoming mobile game from Counterplay Games so far. With the increasing popularity of mobile gaming, it seems like many companies are slowly moving towards the mobile gaming industry and Counterplay Games is no exception. We can’t wait to see what the company comes up with for its first mobile game.
