Story Highlights
- Dragon’s Dogma 2 has just been released and it’s not looking good for the game at all.
- The title, coming more than a decade after its predecessor, is under heavy fire with negative reviews.
- Capcom has acknowledged the situation, saying that it’s looking into the performance issues.
Dragon’s Dogma 2, one of the most well-anticipated JRPGs of the year, is now under heavy fire no thanks to its glaring performance issues and sheer inability to run smoothly on PC. The game only came out yesterday across the board but has since been flagged with a “Mostly Negative” review rating on Steam, which now, although, has been changed to “Mixed.”
Capcom, taking into account this disappointing development albeit well-grounded all the same, has issued a new statement on Steam, going over many of the pain points of Dragon’s Dogma 2, including paid DLC, performance issues, and dismaying bugs and crashes. Concerning the inconsistent frame rate hassle, it says,
A large amount of CPU usage is allocated to each character and calculating the impact of their physical presence in various areas. In certain situations where numerous characters appear simultaneously, the CPU usage can be very high and may affect the frame rate. We are aware that in such situations, settings that reduce GPU load may currently have a limited effect; however, we are looking into ways to improve performance in the future.”
At the moment, Dragon’s Dogma 2 fans are riled up by the sudden outpour of a horde of microtransactions (keep in mind that the JRPG in question is a single-player title), along with the resource-intensiveness of the title on PC, demanding nothing but the beefiest rigs out there with the most decked-out hardware. But mainly, it’s the horrendous performance of the sequel that has fans in fumes.
