Isonzo Will Supposedly Feature Microtransactions

While Blackmill Games and M2H have already made a WW1-based FPS game in the past, in the form of Verdun, which was fully released in 2015 on Steam, its soon-to-be-released massively multiplayer FPS, Isonzo, serves as the spiritual successor to the game with the only major difference being the setting. For FPS enthusiasts, Isonzo seems like a great offering. Recently, a new ESRB rating for the game tells us that Isonzo will also feature in-game purchases. 

Isonzo recently got rated on ESRB for PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and the game will feature microtransactions in the form of in-game purchases, according to the details of the rating. While the rating PlayStation consoles alongside Xbox consoles as the platforms that will feature microtransactions, PC was surprisingly not present even though the game is going to be released for it, too. However, this rating was only for the consoles so we will possibly see a mention of microtransactions in a future rating for PC.

As of now, we don’t what exactly these microtransactions will entail in the game. It could be for an expansion or new content in the game; only time will tell. Isonzo got an M for Mature rating from the rating board, with violence, and blood and gore being noted as the primary reasons. Considering how this is an FPS game set during one of the world’s biggest wars, this doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Gunfire, explosives, corpses, cries of pain, and other war-related things are obviously a major part of the game.

In-game purchases and microtransactions have always been a controversial matter in the gaming community, with some countries even correlating them to gambling activities. Hopefully, the in-game purchases in Isonzo won’t interfere with the gameplay and player experience in any way. At the moment, no release date has been finalized for the game, but it is to be released later this year.
