Story Highlights
- Stellar Blade is a Korea-made action-adventure RPG that enjoyed great reception on launch.
- The title, although already quite good-looking, has now been patched with a PS5 Pro update.
- It now looks and plays smoother, with frames per second going up to 80 on certain occasions.
Stellar Blade has been one of the most fun releases of the year, featuring a stylish, no-nonsense female protagonist with a dash of exhilarating combat gameplay and gripping atmosphere. Back when the title made landfall on the PlayStation, it already looked really fantastic. Now that the PS5 Pro is out, one can only imagine how far the visuals are willing to go from here on.
The official Stellar Blade X account just posted a comparison video, showcasing a before-and-after difference with the enhanced graphics of the PlayStation 5 Pro toggled on. The devs have also offered a couple of different modes for the player to choose between, including the Pro and Pro Max (not to be confused with the iPhone monikers).
The following is another post by the Korean devs, highlighting the elevated frame rate of the game that it’s now capable of running at. Of course, you will need a relevant display monitor as well to replicate the same level of performance.
Stellar Blade’s PC Version Woes Still Continue
While all these updates are cool and all, it’s worth noting that players still demand Stellar Blade’s PC port any chance they get, and the aforementioned posts by ShiftUp are no exception. Currently a first-party PlayStation 5 title, the good news is that the action-adventure RPG will get a PC version sometime down the road—we just don’t know when exactly.
Commenting on the matter, a ShiftUp official said the following in a performance report that came out earlier in the year.
We are preparing for a PC release in the near future to continue the excitement of the ‘Steller Blade’ IP, and we expect better results on PC than on consoles” (translated).
Oh, and we’re still waiting for that Photo Mode, ShiftUp.
Stellar Blade came out on April 26, 2024, for the PlayStation 5 exclusively. eXputer in its 4/5 review of the game praised its its satisfying combat, excellent boss fights, admirable level design, and terrific soundtrack.
