Thirty years after Quake first reshaped the FPS genre, id Software’s landmark shooter has received another substantial content update. Bethesda has released Dawn of the Machine, a brand-new campaign developed by MachineGames and available now as part of Quake’s anniversary celebrations.
Dawn Of The Machine Is A Free Quake Campaign

Bethesda announced the campaign through the official Slayers Club website, confirming that Dawn of the Machine is now available for Quake. The new episode was developed by MachineGames, the studio behind the modern Wolfenstein titles and several previous Quake expansions.
The new campaign features 19 new maps across its campaign and a new soundtrack. According to the website, Quake: Dawn of the Machine introduces a “rougelite” time loop structure to the classic FPS.
As the battle-hardened Ranger, players survive a labyrinthine dimension where time folds back onto itself, creating a unique looping structure where each visit in the present reshapes the future.
Collect runes to unlock previously sealed paths brimming with new routes, encounters and secrets, plus persistent health and ammunition upgrades throughout add a new layer of progression to Quake’s classic gameplay.
MachineGames is certainly no stranger to Quake. Its previous contributions include Dimension of the Past and Dimension of the Machine.
Dawn of the Machine is currently available on XBOX Series X/S, XBOX One, Microsoft PC Store, Game Pass, PC Game Pass, Steam, Nintendo Switch 2 (via backwards compatibility), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4 versions of Quake.
