Story Highlights

  • Leaked images appear to show a Zelda-themed Nintendo Switch 2 console and matching Pro Controller.

  • Nintendo has not officially announced either product, so the images should be treated cautiously.

The Zelda Switch 2 Design Looks Great

Nintendo may be preparing a special-edition Switch 2 to celebrate 40 years of The Legend of Zelda. Leaker Centro Leaks posted two images on X, captioned “First limited edition Nintendo Switch 2 coming soon,” followed by a second post showing a matching Pro Controller with the caption “Pro Controller too.”

If the images are legitimate, Nintendo has opted for a relatively understated console design rather than covering every component in artwork. The dock appears to carry most of the customization, finished in black with a large gold Triforce graphic.

The console’s Joy-Con 2 controllers reportedly combine black and gold on the left side with dark green or teal on the right, both carrying a subtle Triforce pattern. The separately packaged Pro Controller follows the same black-and-gold styling, and both boxes reportedly display previously unseen “The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary” branding.

That restraint feels appropriate for Zelda. The design is recognizable without becoming excessively loud, and the gold Triforce accents fit a franchise built around ancient relics and royal Hyrule imagery.

The Products Will Launch On Zelda’s 40th Anniversary

Nintendo has released Zelda-themed hardware before, including the Tears of the Kingdom OLED Switch and the Hyrule Edition Switch Lite, and a limited-edition Switch 2 would be an obvious way to mark one of its most valuable franchises.

The timing also lines up with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, which Nintendo has confirmed for Switch 2 sometime in 2026, making a dedicated Zelda Direct a plausible venue for revealing this hardware officially.

For now, collectors should resist planning a purchase around the leak. The alleged design looks plausible, but only an official Nintendo announcement can confirm its legitimacy, availability, price, and regional rollout.
