Remedy Entertainment has delivered major updates on three of its most important projects. Alan Wake 2 has now sold over 3 million copies, Control Resonant has surpassed 1.5 million wishlists, and the Max Payne 1 & 2 remake continues to move through full production.

The figures come from Remedy’s half-year financial report, covering the first half of 2026 and published on August 11.

Alan Wake 2 Sales Pass Another Major Milestone

Alan Wake 2 has officially sold more than 3 million units, with Remedy confirming the milestone was reached during the second quarter of 2026. The company noted that Alan Wake 2’s consumer sales continued at an expected pace alongside Alan Wake Remastered, and that royalties from both titles in Q2 came entirely from consumer sales rather than platform deal accruals.

The milestone also reinforces why we consider Alan Wake 2 the ultimate Remedy experience. It brings together ideas from Alan Wake, Control, and Remedy’s wider connected universe without sacrificing its own identity. Alan Wake 2 may no longer be the studio’s newest project, but its steady back catalogue performance is still helping offset softer revenue elsewhere this quarter.

Control Resonant Surpasses 1.5 Million Wishlists

Control sequel
Sequel to Control (2019) is off to a great start.

Control Resonant has already accumulated more than 1.5 million wishlists across platforms as of August 11, according to Remedy. The company says the game has ranked among the top three pre-ordered titles on PlayStation in the US, Germany, and Brazil since pre-orders opened, and that reception from press and content creators who went hands-on during Q2 has been strong, particularly around its atmosphere, storytelling, and shift toward faster, melee-led combat.

Wishlists do not guarantee equivalent launch sales, but they remain a useful indication of pre-release interest, especially for a sequel to a franchise that has grown considerably since the original Control debuted. Remedy itself is positioning the game as a must-have day-one purchase as it builds Control into a longer-running, self-published franchise. The studio previously earned praise for how it interweaves music and narrative, so expectations will naturally be high for Resonant’s presentation and world-building.

Marketing spending on Control Resonant ramped up considerably during Q2, which Remedy said was a deliberate factor in the quarter’s reduced profitability. Still, wishlist numbers are only the opening act. Launch quality, technical performance, and critical reception will decide whether that interest converts into sustained sales when the game arrives on September 24.

Max Payne Remake Development Is Progressing As Planned

Remedy also confirmed that the Max Payne 1 & 2 remake remains in full production, alongside Control Resonant, with development fees from both projects making up the bulk of Remedy’s revenue this quarter. A separate, unannounced Remedy project has now moved into production readiness, the earliest of the studio’s listed development stage gates.

That is reassuring, but the update does not include a release date or substantial gameplay reveal for the Max Payne remake. In other words, fans should not start circling dates on the calendar just yet.

The remake is being developed by Remedy under an agreement with Rockstar Games, making it one of the studio’s most closely watched projects. Alongside Control Resonant and the continued success of Alan Wake 2, it leaves Remedy with a packed, and extremely promising, development slate heading into the back half of 2026.
