GTA Source Code May Really Have Been Stolen
The developer was recently the subject of a ruthless hack that resulted in loads of data from GTA 6 being leaked.
The hack of Rockstar Games which lead to about 90+ footage and clips from the upcoming GTA 6, may just be one of the most infamous and iconic events of not only the gaming industry but companies as a whole as the hacker was supposedly behind the Uber hack as well.
The hacker claimed to not only have footage, but also the source code of GTA 6. While Rockstar did not clear just what exactly was stolen, it appears that source code just may have really been stolen as well.

According to unusual_whales, the source code of GTA 6 really was stolen from Rockstar Games, as he writes in the tweet:

According to unusual_whales, “Grand Theft Auto” maker Rockstar Games itself says the source code was stolen. However, Tom Henderson and Rockstar Games Reporter Ben seem to have not been able to confirm or corroborate unusual_whales’ claims.

When asked by Tom about their source, unusual_whales cited an article by Yahoo! News which reads ‘Grand Theft Auto’ maker says game code stolen. A part of the article reads:
The normally tight-lipped video game maker’s comment came after a trove of data that a hacker said was from a “Grand Theft Auto 6” title in the works was shared online, along with word that source code was also swiped from Rockstar
The ‘swiped from Rockstar’ seems to be the source of mystique and interest, but the article says that this is a mere ‘word’ or rumour.
While it may be a rumour, it is also true that Rockstar have yet not clarified whether the source code really was stolen, only assenting over the leak of video from GTA 6.

While we do not know if the source code for GTA 6 indeed was stolen, we sincerely hope that it does not affect the development of the game, as Rockstar assures us.
