RuneScape And Old School RuneScape Characters Coming To SMITE

In RuneScape's first-ever game cross-over, RuneScape and Old School RuneScape characters, and more are coming to SMITE.

RuneScape was among the first MMORPG games that most of us grew up playing. The memories associated with the game range from heart-breaking trading scams to indelible experiences never encountered again. If one game had to represent the whole MMORPG genre, then it would be no other than the RuneScape franchise.

RuneScape has aged like fine cheese throughout two decennia and still upholds a growing player base. The Guinness World Records acknowledges the game as the world’s largest and most-updated free MMORPG. No title could brew down the MMORPG formula to the finest consistency as RuneScape did.

SMITE, on the other hand, is a MOBA title that blends the classical elements of MOBA with mythological figures that features combat where players fight against each other in a team-based format. The game is almost a decade old, yet it withholds a thriving community of gamers.

SMITE has a booming esports scene in numerous tournaments, including the annual million-dollar Smite World Championship. SMITE has been the mainstay in MOBA since its inception. Both these titles have achieved humongous feats though no one saw an official partnership coming our way.

Both Classical and Old School RuneScape are officially collaborating with SMITE to bring characters and various other goodies to the SMITE universe. Phil Mansell, CEO of RuneScape, talked about the game’s first-ever cross-over in his recent LinkedIn post.

“Am soooo excited to announce RuneScape’s first-ever game cross-over! RuneScape and Old School RuneScape characters (and more) are coming into Smite in partnership with our great friends at Hi-Rez Studios! More details to be revealed soon…”

No particulars have been revealed; characters “and more” are supposedly making their way into SMITE universe. It will be the first official game cross-over for RuneScape, which almost sounds hard to believe. The official Twitter account for SMITE also announced the partnership.

The short video features the artwork alongside some giddy music. Players have received the news with open arms and both the communities have commemorated the occasion with best wishes. Long-time RuneScape players are ecstatic to see the first official collaboration for the game.
