The upcoming free-to-play brawler, MultiVersus is shaping up to be a potential contender to Super Smash Bros. The game intertwines characters from a variety of franchises falling under the Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment umbrella. No gamer would have conceived the possibility of Batman fighting against bugs bunny a few years ago.
MultiVersus is based upon a simple yet well-beloved “platform-fighter” premise but it adds a unique twist on the brawler idea. The title includes a wide array of characters ranging from Shaggy, Arya Stark, Reindog, Superman, Velma, Taz, Bugs Bunny, Finn The Human, and Jake The Dog, to name a couple.
The open beta for MultiVersus is releasing on July 26th, 2022. However, a more limited version of beta is out which can be accessed by users who partook in the closed beta in May. Users will also be able to be invited into the secretive beta by acquiring “Twitch Drops” while eyeing the game’s official Twitch channel—the link has since been removed.
The unique approach seems to have worked out great as MultiVersus has already garnered a bundle of attention from the community. Gamers have applauded the integration of such a unique roster condensed into a delightful brawler. The limited open beta has already surpassed expectations by hitting an unprecedented milestone.
MultiVersus has apparently surpassed the numerals of nearly 60,000 concurrent players on Steam as recorded by the tracker website, SteamDB. The all-time high for the title stood at “59,004″ figures and the recent concurrency at the time of writing stands at “36,602″ players fighting it out in the limited open beta.
It is worth remembering that the open beta is very limited so the amount can be anticipated to reach hundreds of thousand players in the concurrent player count. The “soft launch” of the game is on July 26th and more players are expected to partake in the open beta for MultiVersus.
The Twitch views are also staggeringly high, reaching numbers of 179,585 at their peak. The Twitch views stand at around 60k at the time of writing and are subject to climb and decline. It is a monumental achievement for MultiVersus and the big numerals only point toward the stardom that awaits the title.
Participating in the open beta will not affect the progress made after MultiVersus is officially released as ensured by Warner Bros Games. The title will be available for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC with full cross-play support.
