Diablo Immortal can get stuck on the Starting Game screen when the game fails to complete its routine check of essential files, resulting in a freeze-up during loading. This annoying snag prevents players from progressing to the main menu, locking them out.
It’s commonly triggered by network instability, server-related problems, or issues within the game’s code. But there is no need to worry: I have a few solutions to get you unstuck.
Before trying the more in-depth fixes, I suggest trying these simple methods first:
- Update Graphics Card Drivers.
- Disable Unnecessary Background Programs.
- Avoid Using A VPN Connection.
These are all the solutions to solve the Stuck on Starting issue:
- Scan and Repair Game Files.
- Check the Server Status for Diablo Immortal.
- Switch to a Different Regional Server.
- Clear Cache for Diablo Immortal.
Evaluate The Diablo Immortal Server Status
Diablo Immortal can freeze on the Starting Screen if the servers are down. While the game has many regional servers, scheduled maintenance may temporarily restrict access as developers apply fixes and enhance stability. So, I recommend ruling this possibility out first to avoid fixing something that isn’t broken.
We’re scheduling server maintenance for 6 hours in EU servers. It will take place on CEST 7/27 from 1am-7am. Diablo Immortal will be unplayable in EU servers during these times. We look forward to seeing you in the game soon! pic.twitter.com/GGcYHjQ9X3

For this, head to the Official Twitter for Diablo Immortal. Once there, look for recent maintenance updates. If you find some, wait the period out. In the case there aren’t any, move on with the methods.
Switch To A Different Region
Sometimes, server problems or issues are limited to a specific region. When this happens, switching to a different lobby in a different regional server can help you get in the game. These lobbies vary in time zones and latency levels, where latency measures data travel time between your device and servers in milliseconds.
Select a different server from the main menu to tackle the Starting Game freeze in Diablo Immortal. Typically, you have many options to choose from. So, pick the option with the lowest latency to see if a specific lobby is causing the problem. If it works, the issue might be due to your regional server.
Clear The Immortal App Cache
Another reason for this issue could be the stored cache maintained by the game. This small storage contains login information and other small preferences for your convenience. However, it can sometimes get bugged due to updates or a rewrite. So, occasionally clearing your application cache is generally a good idea.
Wiping this storage clean will help reset the application, potentially resolving the issue. Further, you can apply the same fix for a phone or a computer, so I highly recommend trying it.
Scan & Repair Missing Or Corrupted Files
At this point, I suggest validating the integrity of the game files if Diablo Immortal is still stuck on the Starting Game screen for you. There are several ways for the core files of a game to go haywire and cause all sorts of problems, including a lousy update installation or false malware detection.
Luckily, most game clients offer built-in tools for the task. Further, the process is automatic, redownloading any missing or corrupted files.
My Thoughts
This freezing issue in Diablo Immortal is a frequently widespread problem, with occasional chatter on forums like Blizzard and Reddit. The reason for this is that the issue is more or less linked to the servers going down, either for maintenance or other issues. However, sometimes, the problem is connected to a specific server.
Okay so it seems to be region specific since you can log into EU fine, just not US. We may need to wait until the investigation concludes before you're able to log in. Perhaps try clearing your Bnet cache and see if that helps: https://t.co/WFOlkUVU1n ^JH

Due to this, some servers can be fully operational while others can be down, making it a bit harder to track the issue accurately. However, the Official Blizzard CS Twitter handle does publish quick updates. So, it’s generally a matter of time before the problem is typically addressed.
Additionally, there is an Official Troubleshooting Article set up by Blizzard to attend to players facing the problem. So, while the issue is understandably annoying for players, as it is generally platform-wide, it does get tended to quickly when it’s from the server side.
However, if the issue originates on your end, I am confident you will be able to pass the problem as it’s an easy fix. But if all else fails, contacting Blizzard Support could be a viable option to seek personalized assistance.
