This Year’s Pokemon Day Might Finally Give The Fans What They’ve Been Wanting For Ages

Pokemon Day is held every year on February 27 at the franchise’s anniversary. Pokemon was first released on February 27, 1996, and since then, the day has been celebrated all over the globe due to the massive popularity of the franchise.

In the last few years, the Pokemon Company has featured a live broadcast on Pokemon Day called Pokemon Presents. At the broadcast, the company unveils several main series of Pokemon games, many spin-offs, and lots of news about the franchise.

We’ll be getting a new Pokemon Presents this upcoming Pokemon Day, and the expectations from it are certainly very high.

There are a lot of things that fans have been expecting from The Pokemon Company this year, and, likely, these expectations will soon become a reality.

Pokemon Scarlet And Violet DLC

The latest mainline Pokemon games, Scarlet and Violet, were released in November 2022 for Nintendo Switch. The games were riddled with bugs and glitches at launch. Despite that, the games offered an enjoyable open-world experience that the fans had been waiting for decades.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet had its flaws, but it also provided lots of features that the fans had desperately been waiting for years.

In the past, Pokemon Sword and Shield received their DLCs in the form of The Isle of Armr and The Crown Tundra in the following year after their release. These two locations added an entirely new geographical experience to the game, as well as introduced lots of new and old Pokemon.

While nothing official has been announced as of yet, it is highly likely that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will also receive their DLCs this year. And what better day to announce such a thing than Pokemon Day itself?

A new DLC usually brings new legendaries, and a leak recently surfaced about a legendary pokemon from the upcoming but unannounced Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have suffered countless leaks since their launch. Leakers had also revealed several 7-star raid pokemon a long while before they actually made it to the game.

According to the leak about the DLC’s legendary Pokemon, it appears it will be the paradox version of Suicune and have multiple body types. Suicune is part of the legendary beast trio, which was introduced back in Generation II alongside Entie and Raikou.

Note that these are just leaks at this point and should be taken with a grain of salt. However, according to the leaks, Suicune will be different from the sketch of the “Imagined” legendary Pokemon shown in the books found in the game.

The sketch does not completely resemble the Pokemon in question, but it is like a paradox version of it. Suicune’s drawing contains features that belonged to the other members of the legendary beast trio. The sketch had tusks like Raikou and a mane like Entie’s.

But then, Suicune’s sketch is only available to players playing Scarlet. In Violet, we have the paradox version of Virizion. Virizion is one of the legendary four Swords of Justice, alongside Coballion, Terrakion, and Keldeo from Generation V.

Virizion’s sketch also contains features that belonged to the other members of the legendary Swords of Justice.

There have been no leaks about Virizion as of yet, but if Suicune is going to come to Scarlet, then Virizion will also make its way to Violet as a version exclusive.

The Return Of GBA and GB Era Pokemon Games On Switch

Up till now, you could legally play older Pokemon games on your Nintendo 3DS and 2DS. However, Nintendo’s eShop is set to shut down permanently for the Nintendo 3DS and 2DS this March.

You will not be able to purchase and play the older Pokemon games after that and will eventually lose access to Pokemon Bank. Pokemon Bank is an application for the 3DS that lets you store and transfer Pokemon from older games that are available on the 3DS.

But Nintendo’s announcement at this year’s first Direct turned out to be a game changer for Pokemon fans. Nintendo announced that you’ll now be able to play GameBoy and GameBoy Advance games via Switch Online.

How great would it be that the fans would be able to play and transfer Pokemon between older and newer games and not lose their years of effort? However, there’s one small issue. None of the Pokemon games were on the list of GameBoy and GameBoy Advance games that are currently available to play on Nintendo Switch.

But then, the company also announced at the Nintendo Direct it would continue to add more games to the GameBoy and GameBoy Advance packages for the Nintendo Switch with time.

All the stars point toward the fact that Nintendo will make Pokemon GB and GBA games available for Switch with time. The question is, when? And we’ll most likely get the answer to that at Pokemon Day.

Pokemon Home’s Compatability With Pokemon Scarlet And Violet

Once the GB and GBA emulation for older Pokemon games are available on Nintendo Switch, fans will be able to transfer their older Pokemon from Pokemon Bank to Pokemon Home. Pokemon Home is, more or less, the same as Pokemon Bank, except that it is made for Nintendo Switch and can be accessed with your smartphone.

Note that Pokemon Home is currently not compatible with Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. But a recent update did allow you to view your Pokemon Scarlet and Violet ranked battle results via the Pokemon Home app on your smartphone.

It is expected that we’ll get more information about Pokemon Home’s compatibility with Pokemon Scarlet and Violet at Pokemon Day. But for now, we’ll just have to wait.

This year’s Pokemon Day is going to be a treat for all the franchise’s fans. They expect to hear much from The Pokemon Company at this year’s Pokemon Presents broadcast. But, for now, nothing is official. We’ll have to wait till the broadcast goes live to see if we’re getting anything we wanted.

 We might also get to see some new reveals regarding the Pokemon animated series. Ash’s journey has come to an end in the anime, but Pokemon will continue, and we’ll be there with it.
