Across the globe, ROBLOX users encounter hurdles accessing the platform, often hindered by error code 533. This issue blocks server entry, displaying an error message linked to privacy settings, stating, “Your privacy settings prevent you from joining the server.” Primarily, this problem arises from conflicts within privacy settings, including restricted user accounts and browser settings that aren’t compatible with ROBLOX.
The error 533 in Roblox states, “Your privacy settings prevent you from joining this server. (Error Code: 533).“
Here are some ways you can try to resolve the Error Code 533:
- Disable account restrictions.
- Set your browser’s privacy and security settings to standard settings.
- Check the Roblox server status.
- Flush your DNS Settings.
Disable Account Restrictions
In Roblox, you have the option to enable account restrictions in the settings. Usually, this setting is used for parental control. However, by disabling this setting, the error code ceased for many players. Although this isn’t a definite fix, it’s more of a workaround for the issue, but we would say it’s worth a shot. There is a possibility that it may work for you as well.
Follow the steps below to disable account restrictions in Roblox:
- On your browser > navigate to Roblox.com > log into your account.
- Click on the gear icon at the top-right corner of the window > Select the settings option.
- Locate Privacy Settings on the page > select it.
- In privacy settings > check if your account restrictions are enabled.
- If they are, disable this setting by clicking on the icon adjacent to it.
And that is how you disable the account restriction setting in Roblox.
Change Browser Privacy and Security Settings
Your browser privacy and security settings are some of the factors that lead to the error code 533 in Roblox. The privacy settings prevent you from playing the game and ruin your gaming experience. Setting it to the standard security settings is the way to go.
Here are the steps to change your browser privacy and security settings:
- Open your browser’s settings > Locate Privacy and Settings.
- In this window > click on Security > change it to Standard Protection.
After making the change in settings, close the tab and relaunch Roblox. Try joining a server and check if you are still facing the issue. If the error still occurs, don’t worry; our list of fixes doesn’t end here. Keep reading!
Flush Your DNS Settings
Your temporary network files can occasionally interfere with network connectivity between the various game modules. Flushing your DNS settings essentially involves clearing the cache that has been saved and forcing a DNS information retrieval.
Here is a step-by-step guide on how to do it:
- Click on the Windows Icon > type Command Prompt.
- Select Command Prompt from the search results.
- Type in the command “ipconfig/flushdns” > press Enter.
- Then, type the next command, “ipconfig/renew”, and press Enter to continue.
Restart your computer to finalize the process and ensure the changes you made to your computer system.
My Thoughts
Roblox Error Code 533 is not a widespread issue as I haven’t come across many posts from the players (most of the posts are on the Roblox Dev forum and Community Forum). This was primarily caused by conflicts in privacy settings. I say “was” because the issue was addressed by the developers and was fixed quickly according to this Tweet:
We have resolved the issue and users should now be able to access Roblox.

Even if the issue was been fixed, there’s a chance you still might encounter this issue. If that’s the case, I recommend trying the fixes above that are relatively easy to follow. If they don’t even help you out, you can try contacting Roblox Support.
