Best Microsoft Flight Simulator Settings

Your hardware won't suffer after this guide!

Recently Released Microsoft Flight Simulator has taken over the PC Gaming Community. The game is fantastic, and so far it has received tremendous feedback. Nearly all Journalists and Sites have given it a 10/10 Rating. On top of that, it has 92 Metascore. These ratings look good, however, when you look at the user reviews, they are mostly negative and mixed. Here is the user review rating on Steam.

Update: Flight Simulator Latest Patch resolved several crashes and freezes when starting up the game. The game’s also now pretty optimized compared to previous builds.

I’ve tested Microsoft Flight Simulator on the following PC specifications:

  • CPU: Core-i5 12400f
  • GPU: RTX 4070
  • RAM: 16GB DDR4
  • Storage: 2.5TB SSD
  • Operating System: Windows 10
Key Takeaways

You’ll at least need an Intel i5-4460 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200 CPU, Nvidia GTX 770 or AMD Radeon RX 570 CPU, and 8 GB RAM to run this Flight Simulator.

The following settings put a major strain on your game’s performance:

  • Trees
  • Texture Supersampling
  • Water Waves
  • Reflections
  • Tesselation Quality

Microsoft’s latest Flight Simulator is one of the most demanding games on PC. Last gen Nvidia GPUs (30-series) had trouble pushing the 60 FPS mark. However, I ran the game on my RTX 4070 and was comfortable pushing over 80 FPS on 1440p resolution with DLSS and Frame Generation. Besides performance, the game’s stability is just fine as I haven’t encountered any crashes or bugs.

Flight Simulator Settings

In my opinion, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 is fairly new, and with the passage of time. The game will become more optimized, and we’ll be seeing better frames. Right now, all you can do is find the right balance as shown in this guide. Other than this, if you have low-spec hardware. It’s maybe time you start to spend more money and get better hardware, not because of this game. But in the future, all games will be like this.
