Elden Ring, the Game Of The Year Winner for 2022 doesn’t seem to stop yet as in the latest announcement by its publisher, the game has topped 20 million shipments worldwide. Developer FromSoftware and publisher Bandai Namco declared the milestone just today—a proud moment for the developers indeed.

Elden Ring was released back in February 2022. Despite coming from a Japanese developer company, the game’s overseas success was commendable. Elden Ring sold 12 million copies worldwide within two weeks of its release, including a million copies sold just in Japan.

The GOTY winner took the gaming industry by storm with its excellent visuals and fantastic cinematography, a wonderful RPG with more than an impressive storyline. The game amassed 900k viewers on Twitch within 24 hours of its release.

Elden Ring has proved to be a huge success for its developer company. Following Elden Ring’s release, Kadokawa, FromSoftware’s parent company reported 1100% profits, something definitely to be proud enough. The company’s operating profit was 7.592 billion yen compared to 623 million yen in 2021.

Back in November, Elden Ring was reported to have sold 17.5 million units, adding a further 2.5 million units well over 3 months reaching a milestone of 20 million units. Elden Ring has made history as a game and still keeps its relevance in the industry.

Elden Ring’s official Twitter handle is all glad about the game’s massive success. They thanked the fans in a tweet this morning.

Elden Ring has a Metacritic score of 96 making it one of the highest-rated games ever. The game also won the highest number of “Game Of The Year” awards in 2022 by various critics. Elden Ring has also become the fastest-selling multiplatform Japanese game of all time.

Furthermore, on November 10th, 2023, Bandai Namco released its financial report suggesting that the company has witnessed an increase of 148.7% in their year-on-year sales thanks to the release of Elden Ring. Elden Ring further collected 7 nominations at The Game Awards 2022, while taking the GOTY crown.

The gaming industry sees a change in trend every day and for now Hogwarts Legacy seems to be a fan favorite. Hogwarts Legacy has reportedly outsold Elden Ring in its first week by a wide margin of 56% across Europe. It is seemingly the biggest game release except for FIFA and Call of Duty since Red Dead Redemption 2.

Elden Ring has successfully created a full fledge legacy for the coming gaming generations. How do you feel about the latest milestone achieved by the game? Let us know in the comments below.
