- Evo Japan is returning in summer 2023 for the last weekend of March.
- There is going to be a show announcing the final lineup for the event on February 10.
- Evo 2023 will take place in Las Vegas and will feature seven tornaments.
The Evolution Championship Series, more commonly known as Evo Japan, is a yearly gaming event primarily focused on the fighting genre.
Players from all around the globe travel to show off their skills. The event’s prize pool has set new records with each passing year, and so do the number of people gathering to be a part of this grand esports event.
Evo 2022 concluded with nail-biting matches and a number of announcements for upcoming games. The event took place in Las Vegas from August 5 to 7, 2022 witnessing a total attendance of nearly 7500 people. With that overwhelming participation by the fighting fanbase, Evo instantly announced their 2023 event soon after.
The new tournament is going to be a continuation of past Evo Japan events. The event will take place at the Tokyo Big Sight.
The seven tournaments included in the event will run over a weekend, going from March 31st to April 2nd. Although, Evo this year has some changes to notice, including a change in ownership and inclusion of new games.
And yes, the prize pool is fourteen million Japanese yen which is around $100,000.
The most important part is still the titles that Evo will feature. All the key titles that were on display for the 2022 event will be offered again. The main titles that are yet confirmed for the event are:
- Granblue Fantasy: Versus
- Melty Blood: Type Lumina
- Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown
- Guilty Gear -Strive-
- King of Fighters XV
- Street Fighter V: Champion Edition
- Tekken 7
We’ll have to wait and see if even more fighting game series will be added as the event draws nearer. We may presumably anticipate more than this limited run because this is a multi-day event.
However, to add to the excitement, Evo is hosting a show on February 2023 to announce the official and final lineup of the event. Subscribed candidates have received an email from Evo sharing the latest information about the event.
As of 2021, the event went under the joint ownership of Sony Interactive Entertainment and Endeavor esports venture RTS.
As for the event taking place in Summer 2023, Sony INZONE will be returning to Evo at the event! Sony INZONE will equip all competition stations with 27″ INZONE M3 monitors & stages will utilize H3 headsets.
For registration, you can check the official Evo website. You can also read the latest change in rules and more. The spectator tickets range from 8000 JPY to 4000 JPY for premium and general seats, respectively and if you love moving around, the open seats cost 2500 JPY.
There is going to be a tonne of international talent. We’ll see a number of winners for seven tournaments. We do wish you the best if you plan to be a part of this event.
