Fighting games are present in myriad numbers, but when it comes to the ones that are exclusive to PlayStation, we don’t have any game-changers lying around. Titles like Tekken 7, Mortal Kombat 11, and Street Fighter V lead the genre with some other classics that are available through backward compatibility.
For the PlayStation 5, we don’t have a lot of exclusive games as of yet, let alone an exclusive fighting game. However, a job listing on Freelance Hub would beg to differ as a manga-based fighting IP that’s going to use Unreal Engine 4 is now in the works and an expert of the engine is required to make this happen.
The twist here is that the game is mentioned to be focused on a Japanese manga series coming from a renowned publisher. If you scroll down to the end, the listing even says that everyone knows what battle manga this is. In addition, the job description says, “You will be developing a new large-scale IP fighting game from a major game company.” The words, “Major game company” seem to ring a bell for Bandai Namco, if no one else, since that developer is a giant when it comes to top-of-the-line fighting games.
The fact that the game is foretold to be exclusive for the PlayStation 5 makes the scenario all the more enticing. The console-line does not have many IPs it could call its own, and a game using Unreal Engine 4 and possibly from a big name like Bandai Namco could incline things towards Sony’s next-gen frontrunner quite profoundly.
