Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown Has Now Sold 4 Million Copies Worldwide

The gaming industry has a myriad of gaming studios developing and publishing games all the time. All of these companies are responsible for the amazing entertainment we get from our favorite hobby. However, only a few of these companies are true behemoths and one of them is Bandai Namco.

Based in Japan, the video game publisher is a true giant in the gaming world. Its large list of original IPs is the reason why the company has become a multi-national force. One of these IPs is an arcade flight simulator known as Ace Combat.

The flight-based combat video game has been one of the longest-running Bandai Namco IPs. Its most recent release was the 7th mainline game in the series called Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown. Recently, this title has reached a huge landmark in the series.

Ace Combat 7 is the best-selling game in the series and it achieved that in 2021. So, this landmark has just made its hold over that position stronger. Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies is the only game in the series which comes close to its numbers with 2.64 million copies sold.

The series combined has now shipped more than 17 million copies worldwide. As these numbers are from 2021, it’s safe to assume it has crossed the 18 million threshold due to Ace Combat 7’s numbers. As a result, the series is among the best-selling gaming franchises.

Hence, Ace Combat 7 selling 4 million copies is an indication of the bright future the franchise has. A new game is already in the works but we do not know if it will be a new mainline installment or a remake. Hopefully, it performs as well as the 7th game in the series.
