With the recent announcement that an in-development Deus Ex game was canceled internally at Eidos Interactive, it seems that even the actor behind Adam Jensen has given up hope. Yesterday, Deus Ex actor Elias Toufexis delivered an emotional goodbye to fans of the series and Adam Jensen himself through a heartfelt post on Reddit.
I wanted to come on here and say thank you for this page, your wonderful messages over the years, and your continued, unbelievably strong support.”
Toufexis talks about the future of Deus Ex, hoping that maybe someday Jensen’s story can continue through another game sometime in the future or even an animated series.
As for Jensen, we say goodbye, but hopefully not farewell. Maybe someone else will buy the license. Maybe we’ll make an animated series or finish the game. Elon Musk is a big fan, I think he has some money. Someone ask him! ;)”
Deus Ex is a series that is close to the heart of many players, including myself. I got into the series with Jensen’s debut entry, Deus Ex Human Revolution, and eventually made my way back to the original Deus Ex, which continues to be a game that I’m obsessed about.
Both Adam Jensen and JC Denton deserve to be remembered as iconic characters. It’s a shame that we may never see the conclusion of what was meant to be a proper trilogy for Adam Jensen.
Toufexis thanks the fans for their support and mentions how much he cares for Adam Jensen as a character. He says that even though he has played other characters in games, it’s his role as Jensen that both he and the fans care the most about. The post ends with him saying,
For the love and support? I asked for this.”
Separately on Twitter, the actor also went on to discuss the state of the gaming industry right now. Saying that two projects that he was acting and directing on were scrapped, one of which was apparently for a “massive game.” He also confirms that he’s still working on two or three other games as well. Elias Toufexis continues to be a frequent sight in various games. From Sam Coe in Starfield to Prometheus in Ubisoft’s Immortals Fenyx Rising.
