Armored Core 6: Fires Of Rubicon Rated For Teens By ESRB

Video game classification board ESRB has officially rated FromSoftware’s Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon “T for Teens” in a new listing. According to the rating association, drug references, language, and violence are the main reasons for this age limit, with the title including words like “sh*t” and allusions to a fictional drug during dialogue.

Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon‘s rating on the ESRB website gave us some insight into the vehicular combat game from Bandai Namco and confirmed a lot of stuff we already know. Per the rating summary, the FromSoftware title will be playable from a third-person perspective in which players control a mercenary carrying out military-style operations.

Furthermore, as we are already aware, Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon will feature battle suits called mechs to help us fight enemies. The ESRB rating sheds some light on the type of weapons available in the game, with rocket launchers, missiles, and machine guns being at the disposal of the player. In addition, we also get some details about the enemies we will face, which range from other mechs to helicopters as per ESRB.

Moving on, the battles will be fast-paced and accompanied by real gunfire and large explosions in Armored Core 6: Fire of Rubicon. This is no surprise as this is a staple of the franchise and mechs will also explode into fiery wreckage and debris when they get destroyed. Furthermore, the FromSoftware title also features references to a drug called the “Coral drug” according to the ESRB rating.

In the summary section of the listing, the classification board gives us some examples of this drug being mentioned in Armored Core 6: Fire of Rubicon. In addition to this substance allusion, the word “sh*t” will also appear in the vehicular combat title. When you take both of these into account, the T for Teens rating from the ESRB doesn’t seem unfair.

First announced at The Game Awards in December 2022, Armored Core 6 is going to be the sixth mainline entry in the long-running mecha franchise. Directed by Masaru Yamamura, who was the lead designer on Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Fires of Rubicon will take place on a distant planet called Rubicon 3, where humanity found a new energy source known as “Coral” which significantly increased its technological capabilities.

However, this substance led to a cataclysmic event that engulfed the planet and the surrounding system in flames. Armored Core 6 picks up half a century after this event, when humanity rediscovers this energy source and tries to control it, again. Players will take control of a player called “Raven,” who will be an independent mercenary taking jobs from corporations and resistance groups as the battle for Coral goes on.

Developed by FromSoftware, Armored Core 6: Fire of Rubicon will release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and PC on August 25, 2023. And, with the previews for the non-open world game getting high praise from fans, the hype is through the roof.
