Armored Core 6 Is Now The Best-Selling Game In The Series

The voice actors for the game have revealed this in a recent live stream.

Story Highlights

  • Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon is the recently released installment in the Armored Core franchise of mecha fighting games.
  • The game was released on August 25, 2023, with the developer at the helm being the well-reputed FromSoftware.
  • Two of the voice actors of Armored Core 6 have come forward with a grand revelation, highlighting that the game has sold over 2.8 million copies to date.

In all fairness, kudos to FromSoftware for another great game that lives up to the developer’s legacy. Armored Core 6 is a fresh release for the long-dormant Armored Core franchise. The mecha-oriented fighter slash shooter has been received quite well over the course of its release, and now, it appears that the game has sold over 2.8 million copies worldwide, marking a new milestone for the project.

This burst of glad tidings comes from two voice actors of Armored Core 6 collectively, who recently appeared in a live stream on YouTube. As per Ryo Shimokawa, the voice of VIII Pater, an NPC in the game, “Armored Core 6 is said to have sold around 2.8 million copies worldwide.” The duo said on the stream that they heard this from the developers themselves, and received keychains on FromSoftware’s behalf with their emblems etched on them.

Furthermore, the VA playing Rusty in Armored Core 6, one of the most prominent characters in the whole campaign, also shed some light on the overall popularity of the game. Commenting on the outreach of Japanese dubbing across the spectrum on foreign waters, Yasuyuki Kase said, “The foreign version also includes Japanese audio, so it seems like there are people who can hear our voices.”

To put things into perspective, it was widely reported last month that Armored Core 6’s sales have surpassed 1.2 million copies on Steam alone, leaving the rest of its sold copies on other different platforms up to our imaginations. Thanks to the input of the aforementioned VAs though, we now have solid data on how the game seems to be doing commercially.

Armored Core 6 is one of the fairly few AAA releases this year that has happened to release across different platforms without a substantial amount of bugs and glitches. Unfortunately, the latter has become somewhat of a trend in recent times for high-budget, well-anticipated titles, with some examples being The Last of Us Part 1 PC, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and, of course, not to forget Forspoken

FromSoftware continues to support Armored Core 6 following its launch with one update after another, with the last patch, titled v1.04, rolling out about 3 days ago and improving the game’s performance, fixing bugs, and even weapon discrepancies in its wake. This level of consistent sustenance is what allowed the mecha fighter to become the highest-rated game in the series, and now, best-selling as well.

On a side note, a group of modders banded together as of late to put Armored Core 6 maps in Elden Ring, and the results were as one would expect—a puny Tarnished slithering across Rubicon at relatively snail-like speeds. For a better idea of how Armored Core’s world scales against Elden Ring, have a look at the comparison of both games’ boss sizes. The difference is absolutely wild.

Armored Core 6 was launched on August 25, 2023, for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
