Beyond Good and Evil 20th Anniversary Edition recently appeared on the Xbox store for a brief period—the official page has since been deleted—before it was taken down. The page is now inaccessible and cannot be viewed anymore, and leads to an error when viewed. The project was initially leaked on August 31 by the US rating board ESRB, but Ubisoft has kept it under wraps and has not officially announced it. However, players who downloaded the title are already playing it.

Players who originally grabbed the game are still able to play it. The slip-up spread like wildfire after the page went live, and many screenshots and videos were uploaded on YouTube. As a result, some gamers have been able to download the game after it was briefly available through the Ubisoft+ subscription service. However, Ubisoft has quickly slashed any sightings that gain even a little popularity.

We may hear official details from Ubisoft in the near future. According to the ESRB rating leak previously, it is expected to be released for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series S and Series X, and Switch. No Xbox One version was included. The original Beyond Good and Evil was released in 2003 and left a significant mark on the gaming industry. There have been multiple iterations since then, including the HD version in 2011 and the new 20th anniversary edition.

On the other hand, the next mainline game, Beyond Good and Evil 2 has been in development for over a decade since its initial announcement 14 years ago. It has seen a fair share of hiccups throughout the years since then, with the creative director of the game, Emile Morel, recently passing away. Unfortunately, external playtesting held last year suggested that it needs to brew for a few more years before it is ready to see the light of day.
